AWS infrastructure and cost cleanup
Who it's for
A team whose AWS account is hard to explain. The bill drifted, resources are still running that nobody remembers creating, or the layout is something the next person should not change blind.
What's delivered
A written account of what is running and what it costs, then the cleanup itself. Unused resources come out. Waste that is safe to cut comes out. What remains is labeled so someone else can operate it.
Typical engagement
A consulting project for the review and the first cleanup, or a contract role when the account needs an engineer in it for a few months.
Terraform and infrastructure as code
Who it's for
A team that still builds AWS by clicking through the console, or that has Terraform it no longer trusts to apply.
What's delivered
The infrastructure written in Terraform, and a plan-and-apply path the team can run. Devin publishes modules on the Terraform Registry under the namespace ironsmith-io, including ironsmith-io/ec2-rocky9-fips/aws and ironsmith-io/ec2-rundeck/aws.
Typical engagement
A consulting project to bring an existing setup under Terraform, or a contract role to own that code with the team.
CI/CD pipelines
Who it's for
A team whose release is a list someone runs by hand, or whose pipeline fails often enough that people route around it.
What's delivered
A pipeline that builds and deploys the software you already have, and runs the checks you already rely on. Each step is visible, and a failure is something you can read.
Typical engagement
A consulting project to put the pipeline in, or a contract role when delivery is the job for the next few months.
Go backend and APIs
Who it's for
A team that needs an HTTP API or a backend service in Go, or that already has one and needs another engineer on it.
What's delivered
A Go service with a clear API and a way to deploy it on AWS.
Typical engagement
A consulting project to design and ship the service, or a contract role on an existing Go codebase.
Security and WISP compliance for small firms
Who it's for
A small firm that has to meet the IRS Written Information Security Plan requirement and does not have a security staff. CPA firms are the usual case.
What's delivered
A Written Information Security Plan that matches how the firm actually works, and the setup behind it: who can reach which systems, how client data is stored, and what the firm does when something goes wrong. One engagement helped a small CPA firm meet the IRS-mandated Written Information Security Plan (WISP) and set up firm IT security. The firm is not named.
Typical engagement
A consulting project. The plan and the setup are the work.
Generative AI apps on AWS Bedrock
Who it's for
A team that wants a generative-AI feature in a product it owns, running in its own AWS account, with a scope that fits in a project.
What's delivered
The model call on AWS Bedrock, the service around it, and a place to run it. Flavor Forge is a finished example: Bedrock, EC2, a Go backend, and a SvelteKit frontend. It drafts recipes from ingredients already on the shelf.
Typical engagement
A consulting project for a first version, or a contract role if the product needs an engineer for a few months.
SEO, web applications, hosting, and domain management
Who it's for
A small business that needs a website, a small web application, or someone to look after the domain, DNS, and hosting.
What's delivered
The site or the application, the domain and DNS configured, and hosting that stays out of the way. When the site needs to be found, the build includes titles, descriptions, a sitemap, and structured data. One engagement built marketing and lead-generation tooling for a small local roofing company. The company is not named.
Typical engagement
A consulting project for the build. Care of the domain, DNS, and hosting can continue after that.
